Chantilly Man Charged with Sharing Child Pornography through Social Media

Loudoun County, VA- A Chantilly, Va. man was arrested on May 9 for his involvement in the sharing of child pornography through a social media site.

Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Sex Crimes Unit, as part of the Northern Virginia-Washington, DC Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (NOVA-DC ICAC), charged Matthew P. Bishop, 37, in Fairfax County with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Additional charges are likely in Loudoun County and Fairfax County.
During the course of the investigation it was determined Bishop utilized his Twitter accounts, NoVa Creeper and volleyballperv, to send direct messages containing child pornography to another subject.
As part of the investigation, search warrants were served at Bishop’s residence in Fairfax County on April 13. An additional search warrant was served to obtain his fingerprints to attempt to access his smartphone.
The arrest stems from a separate and ongoing investigation initiated by detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Sex Crimes Unit in 2015.
The investigation included the assistance of the NOVA-DC ICAC, the Fairfax County Police Department, and the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia.
Bishop was released on a secured bond in Fairfax County.
